Are hemp and hemp products legal at all?
In principle, hemp is legal throughout the EU. However, the restrictions regarding the use of hemp are important. Content of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). Products with a THC content of less than 0.2% are generally legal in the EU. Higher limits apply depending on the country.
Hemp is a versatile useful plant and is used in countless areas. It is therefore a pity that hemp is often associated with narcotics.
Our products come from organic farming of certified EU commercial hemp. These varieties have a very low THC content and are approved in the EU. Hempions edibles are mainly produced from the varieties Fedora and Finola.
THC is one of many cannabinoids. There are glandular hairs all over the cannabis plant (except seeds and roots). These produce a cannabinoid-containing resin. The content of THC is highest in the resin of the hemp flowers.
In the EU, only commercial hemp varieties with a very low THC content are allowed. The general THC limit is 0.2%. With such low levels, an intoxicating effect can be ruled out.

No, hemp food has no intoxicating effect. In particular, products made from hemp seeds contain at most traces of the intoxicating THC.
A limit value for THC in food has not yet been set. According to the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), the consumption of 1 µg THC/kg body weight is safe.
